An Important Update From MoonBD
We are writing to you today with a heavy heart. Since 2021, the MoonBD team has proudly run this project without a single long-term shutdown. For five incredible years, this server has been a passion project fueled by our love for the game and this community.
Unfortunately, we have hit a crossroads where sustaining the server in its current state is no longer possible. The project will officially and permanently shut down on the 22nd of this month.
Why This Is Happening
Running a project of this scale requires an immense amount of time, management, and personal infrastructure resources. Right now, we can no longer maintain it due to shifts behind the scenes:
- Team Shortage: Recently, one of our Senior Developers had to leave the project to fulfill mandatory military service. This left us with only two active developers.
- Time Constraints: Because the server does not generate enough revenue to cover living expenses, I must dedicate my time to client projects to make a living. I simply cannot give MoonBD the runtime focus, time, and attention it drastically needs.
- Rising Infrastructure Costs: The baseline server hosting and technical costs are too high to sustain out of pocket indefinitely without the development hours to back it up.
The reality is that we no longer have the manpower or the hours required to give MoonBD the future it deserves.
What Happens Next
- Final Offline Date: The server will permanently go offline on the 22nd.
- Our Channels: We will keep our community Discord server open indefinitely so that players can stay connected, keep in touch, and share their memories.
- The Future: If we manage to solve our constraints regarding time and funding down the line, we may look into reopening the project with a completely reworked BDO experience. Please don't hold onto this as a firm promise or false hope, but rather a possibility if circumstances change.
